this is an unusual and wonderful piece. the half tester canopy style is where the canopy covering the entire length … more this is an unusual and wonderful piece. the half tester canopy style is where the canopy covering the entire length and width of the bed ; is halved and stops around where the waist would be . This is a king size bed; unusual for the era. In the photos; you will notice light switches on either side of the bed and the photo looking up in to the canopy shows a slit in the fabric . This is where the light fixture sits. cannot be certain ;but this appears to be a modification possibly from the 1920's or 30's . Most of these style beds are from england and made in the late 1800's . There is no documentation of this but it fits in line with the style; wood and workmanship.There is a photo of the fixture and associated hardware.This is a very solid piece-originally it was a tongue and groove where the rails fit into the footboard- and that is still the case ;but this has been refortified. The piece breaks down into 5 sections for easier transport and fitting through the doors.Wear is normal for the age. there is a small repair in the last photon a vertical joint. Besides the rarity of a half tester canopy; this is mostly all original and is a rare king size; and unlike most of the canopy style beds; the headboard is the full width of the bed and goes all the way up to the canopy.
