The Yuzen process named after the 17th century artist who developed the technique is a combination of dyes and cutting to the woven velvet. The piece retains the original black enamel framing with a golden textile border and thin gilt inset. The backside has an affixed metal plate in Japanese and English reading “Takashimaya, Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka”. Fine Japanese design from the Meiji period. See less
