Description: I love the Art Nouveau period in France, the time when Majorelle was inspired by nature when crafting his furniture, … more I love the Art Nouveau period in France, the time when Majorelle was inspired by nature when crafting his furniture, incorporating flowers and even waterlilies into his designs. This gilt bronze inkwell was created in the same spirit with delicate flowers, leaves and berries covering the surface. The glass inserts for ink are missing, but other than that, it is in very good antique condition. Some of the gilding has worn off in places, but that just shows us that it was used for the purpose intended, giving it even more character.

This inkwell is the largest one in my collection here on Chairish, measuring 12" (30.5 cm) long and 7 1/4" (18.5 cm) wide. It is a heavy piece weighing three pounds, being made of solid bronze. This is one of those pieces that I would love to keep for myself, but I would be delighted to find another collector who will appreciate it as much as I do.
