Freshly lacquered in a satin finish in New York blue on the exterior and Courtyard Green on the interior shelving, we have an outstanding mahogany breakfront secretary/china cabinet/desk/bookcase, made by Maddox Tables of Jamestown, NY. Circa Early 20th Century.
Refined lines and exceptional workmanship. The top is a glass door bookcase/china cabinet with a well-proportioned pediment and finial. 2 fixed shelves behind the glass doors. Slant drop front opens to fully fitted organized interior. Fan carved center drawer with additional drawers and open compartments. Four large drawers feature a serpentine front.
Such exquisite, timeless quality. As you know, early pieces are very rare and highly sought after. This lovely secretary is very decorative but spacious enough to be useful, with storage galore for anything from scrap-booking supplies to extra silverware. It features a bookcase to showcase your books, china or collectibles. Beautifully hand-carved fretwork crown detail with broken arch style top and flame-style finial adds more panache to this traditional piece.
On the interior, the desk features several small drawers and cubby holes. Furthermore, the top section features three fixed shelves with plate grove.
Age & Condition: Circa 1950. A repair was made to the desk surface. Some light scratches to the interior were covered when painted.
