Description: This distinctive mirror features a round glass mirror with beveled edges surrounded by an ornate heavy cast plaster frame. The … more This distinctive mirror features a round glass mirror with beveled edges surrounded by an ornate heavy cast plaster frame. The frame features various fruits painted in lovely muted purple and gold colors on a black background. It has a thick backing with a sturdy chain for hanging. From appearances, particularly the Art Nouveau or Rococo style and the backing, it is believed to date from the very early 20th century, perhaps 1900 to 1910. There is no makers mark or identification on the outside. It is 16 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches thick.
The mirror has a charming, slightly distressed, aged quality with some signs of wear and slight paint loss between the fruits. There are no major flaws. The mirror has a couple small scratches and pinpoint spots, but no loss of silvering. There are more significant scratches and an area of non-structural chips on the thick sides of the mirror that will be difficult to see when it is hanging. Please look closely at the pictures. less
