This is an antique (cc 1860s) stove kettle or bathroom water pitcher (see photos) which is hand-hammered and hand-soldered. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper. The shape (pyramid) is very attractive (large base) and it has a folding copper handle and a lid.
In the past these kettles were known as "ship kettle".
Measurements: 9.25 inches Diameter; 9.5 inches High.
Provenance: Antique artisans in Cairo-Egypt.
Condition: Good antique. Unique and inherent patina. Signs of traditional usage and age. Shows normal soot (amorphous carbon, produced by the incomplete burning of organic matter). Needs cleaning. Item has not been cleaned or modified in any way.
