English silver match box cover by Henry Matthews, 1903 An English silver match box cover made by the silversmith Henry Matthews. This box is marked with the English silver hall marks City hall mark Birmingham (anchor) The English silver hall mark "Lion" (England) Year letter "d" for 1903. Master sign of Henry Matthews (This hall mark is used between 1894-1930). A rectangular box to slide into a match box. The silver box is open on the sides to strike the matches on the box and raised on four ball feet. The scene on the box is Reynold" Angels. Angel heads between clouds. The measurement is 3.5 cm high, 7.2 cm wide and the depth is 5 cm. The weight is 36 grams This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
