Mid Century Silvio Cavatorta Large Wardrobe in Walnut, Birch & Brass Italy 1958 Silvio Cavatorta, a renowned furniture designer, created an exceptional wardrobe in Italy in 1958. The wardrobe is made of beautiful walnut wood with a glossy finish. The warm tones of the wood blend seamlessly with any decor, giving it a polished and sophisticated appearance. The brass parts of the cabinet have aged gracefully, giving it a charming patina that adds character. Functionality is a vital feature of this wardrobe. Its large size provides fantastic storage space. The left and right compartments of the wardrobe are separate from the middle part and are attached by a hanging structure. An extra single leg in the middle supports them. The right compartment features three shelves and five drawers with lovely, detailed handles. The middle compartment, consisting of two doors, provides sizeable hanging space with one wide drawer on the bottom. The two left compartments are also suitable for hanging clothes, with a large rack on the left side. The fifth door has a large mirror held by beautifully shaped internal elements. All doors have a vertically placed brass plate with a brass door handle and lock, including a key. This remarkable wardrobe showcases Silvio Cavatorta's craftsmanship, displaying his skill and creativity. Cavatorta is a family company that originated in Rome in 1869. They produced exclusive and customized furniture for prestigious clients such as embassies, hotels, schools, and ships. Silvio Cavatorta, son of the founder, expanded the company's reach by securing commissions from international organizations and ministries during the 1930s. Please note that the cabinet is in excellent original condition with some minor traces and patina of use. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
