The local historic farm is a memory to cherish and preserve. In this 16” x 20” oil painting, the white barn stands strong, with a violet cast shadow on its side that adds a touch of mystery and beauty to the scene. The windmill is a majestic sight, reaching up to the blue and white sky overhead. It’s blades spin slowly in the breeze, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The farm is anchored in lush green fields, and the sun casts a warm glow on the plains in the distance. The farm is a reminder of a simpler time, and it is a place of beauty and serenity that also marks place and time.
Inspiration for this painting came from a visit to the Updike Farm, a preserved historic farm in Princeton, NJ. The sense of being able to appreciate the past and a simpler way of life resonated with me in creating this artwork. The old windmill was a treasure to welcome into the painting of this beautiful landscape.
I painted this on a masonite panel in oils. My style is expressive and simplistic with a child-like sense of wonder mixed in. The colors are vibrant and exaggerated to provoke connection. This is a signed original painting that is ready for framing. less
