We were fortunate to acquire a number of new old stock lithograph art posters. These posters are not reproductions or offset lithographs. They are original first edition, true lithograph posters, and very collectible works of art. This poster was printed in 1977 for an exhibition of Saul Steinberg at Galerie Maeght in Paris after the 1948 original. As with the original, there is collaged blue, red, gold and silver foil stamping, making for a very unique poster. Poster size: 31 x 23 1/2 inches.
Saul Steinberg was an American artist and illustrator. He is best known for his witty and often surreal drawings, which appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, and other magazines. His works combine elements of surrealism and cubism, and often explore the idea of identity. Steinberg's work has been featured in major museums around the world, and his influence on modern art is undeniable. He was an innovator and leader in the Pop Art movement, and his unique style continues to inspire and influence artists today. His work serves as a reminder of the power of creativity and imagination, and belongs to the collections of many important museums including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Centre Pompidou, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Moderna Museet, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. less
