This is an awesomely unique set of six (6) goblets from Vetreria Save in Tuscany Italy. Each handblown by an artisan. The tradition of glass making artistry in Tuscany dates to the 13th Century. The tradition in Tuscany grew to be a distinguished style, rich in tradition distinguished from other glassmaking centers in Italy. At one point the region was distinguished by its making of empoli. While Tuscany fought mightily to maintain its glassmaking, problems arose with the World Wars and the supply chains of material inputs. In the 21st Century, modern Tuscan glass industry has largely been replaced by other endeavors. That transition however left a strong history of fascinating works of art, of which these six goblets are representative.
The shape of these goblets is a Tuscan glass tradition. The bowl has lovely optic waves of panels therein. There are vertical ridges on the distinctive stem which meets the base with a floral shaped blossom. There is, of course, no seam on the foot. Several of the feet in this set still have an original sticker from Vetreria Save attached.
The glass is 7" tall.. The mouth opening is 4.25". The foot is 3.25" wide. The colors on this item is other-wordly in its beauty. The bowl is a translucent lime green and the base and stem are an electric translucent orange, with hints of the lime green above. The colors, while unique and dazzling, are classic and sartorial. The glass is especially lovely in motion, take a look:
