A very nice and stylish Wedgwood porcelain Monteith bowl made especially for Bailey, Banks & Biddle, the famed Philadelphia jewelers.

We believe this piece was made at the time of the Bicentennial, or perhaps some particular anniversay of Franklin's life.

"The Monteith" which is a French form designed for rinsing or chilling wine glasses, has a crenellated rim which permits multiple glasses to be placed in the bowl, with the base, held by the rim, and the bowl of the glass down in the bowl.

This one features beautiful black transfer engravings from the American Philosphical society of Good Olde Ben Franklin

Measures 10.5" by 8" by 6" deep.
