Douglas Swan, an American painter born in 1930, started his artistic journey at the Dundee College of Art in Scotland, then continuing his studies in London. He developed a great interest in the contemporary Italian artist scene, influenced by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani and Roberto Crippa. Located in Switzerland in the 1960s, Swan became an important figure in 20th century art, regularly exhibiting his work.

The presented work illustrates the artistic work of Swan in the 1970s, as exhibited at the Galerie Reckermann in Cologne in 1972. This piece has an attribution mark,
