Maurice Legendre, born in Paris in 1878 and died in Madrid in 1955, is a Catholic intellectual and a French Hispanist who was director of the Casa de Velázquez, a French cultural center in Madrid.
He comes from a fairly wealthy family of Beauceron and Auvergne origin, a trader in lace and embroidery.
He did his secondary studies at the Michelet high school and the Henri-IV high school then was accepted into the literary competition of the École normale supérieure de Paris in 1900, in the same promotion as Jacques Chevalier, Pierre-Maurice Masson and Paul Hazard.
He used his know-how acquired at the School of Decorative Arts to create, from 1968 to 1983, several monumental works which took on their full dimension in an urban context, particularly in the Paris region. Molded frame in gilded wood
