A table reading lamp with engraved glass with portraits from the 15th century a table reading amp on a base … more A table reading lamp with engraved glass with portraits from the 15th century a table reading amp on a base of a book with a curved stand, on top of which is a square of glass-engraved portraits with paper in the background. The portraits are t.a. Kempis, w. Gansfort, r. Agricola and d. Erasmus. The lamp has a porcelain fitting and a short electrical wire with an old plug. The text on the spine of the book is in ancello cum libello. ('alone with a book'). The lampshade is made of metal and colored in a bronze color and can be rotated. In the stand made of metal there is a name (mark), but illegible. The lid on the lampshade is loose. * d. Many variations of his last name are seen and he is sometimes incorrectly called johan wessel. * rodolphus agricola (1443 - 1485) was a dutch humanist of the northern low countries, famous for his knowledge of latin and greek. He was an educator, musician, builder of church organs, a poet in latin and the vernacular, a diplomat, a boxer and a hebrew scholar towards the end of his life the measurement is 28 cm high, 18 cm wide and 11 cm deep.
