Origin and history:
Milk glass is an opaque white glass developed in Venice before 1500 and Florence between 1575 and 1587. It was created to imitate porcelain. While it was produced in limited quantities in northern Europe, some rare examples are from Germany or Bohemia in the 17th century. England, Germany, and Venice were the leading producers of porcelain-like milk glass into the 20th century. less
