Antique JJ Jung framed Camellia Rubrum Tenerum in beautiful wood frame.
The Abbe Berlèse was the greatest camellia scholar of the nineteenth century. He was born and died in Campomolino, Italy. He was ordained priest in the Seminario Vescovile di Ceneda. He lived and worked for circa 40 years in Paris, where he had his own greenhouses.
Berlèse accumulated a significant collection of camellias over twenty years, eventually deciding to record them in the present monograph. J.J. Jung, a lesser known artist, engraved the plates in a striking and exquisite style, affirming the strong influence of Redouté over botanical works of this period.
