Stuart Crystal is a discontinued brand that was first manufactured at the historic Red House Glassworks in Stourbridge. The brand originated in the early 19th century. Stuart Crystal is missed by crystal glass enthusiasts all over the world.
The Stuart Crystal story started in 1827 when eleven year old Frederick Stuart was sent to work at the Redhouse Glassworks on the 'crystal mile', an area just outside Stourbridge where generations of local craftsmen had already made this the centre of English Glassmaking.

The capacious bowl is plain, as is the flat, wide foot. The decoration lies in the gently tapering stem, which contains an air-twist in double helical form. The trapped air causes the glass to glisten as it is moved in the light. In 18th century glasses this quality was known as a ‘mercurial’ or ‘mercury’ twist. less
