A dramatic, sculptural door knicker with good deep casting and a design of a ferocious foo lion to protect your home.
The head of the knocker is made from a molded sheet of brass in the form of the head of a foo lion with swirls of a mane, star-like swirls on the forehead, and two lines of teeth. The swirls remind me of Kangxi designs on foo lions. A heavy cast bronze pull / knocker I with a deep cast design of a lotus is inserted through his mouth. The brass has a dark aged brass patina. The back is a flat sheet of brass. Three holes extend through the knocker to attach it to a door.
MEASUREMENTS
4 ½” (11.4 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) deep. Weighs 8.9 oz (260 g)
CONDITION
There are no breaks, cracks, or repairs. There are a couple of tiny dimples on the top of his head. The patina is good and has gold highlights on the high points.
