Created by the Catskills New York ceramicist, Matthew Solomon, this ripe fig with stem is erotically formed and tinted with delicate blues and pinks. It is the size of a grapefruit and can easily be nestled in the palm of the hand. The black seeds of the fruit are beautiful formed in the cut opening of the fruit.
Matthew Solomon was inspired by his great love of Nature. He had a particular fascination with the subtle changes in color and form that occur when fresh blossoms are placed in a vase slowly begin to fade while retaining their beauty.
Each piece is signed by the artist on its base. Only one of each hand formed object was created and no two exist.
