Born in Milano, Italy Giuseppe Castiglione was a Jesuit and missionary who became an artist to three emperors at the Imperial Court of China. Series of paintings titled ten fine hounds depicts different dog breeds with descriptions and names in Chinese, Manchu, and Mongolian.
