The upper five-drawer cabinet with conforming … more 18th c., England, a delightful George III cheveret lady's writing desk in two parts. The upper five-drawer cabinet with conforming guard over fitted drawers, resting on a table with a hinged section opening to green leather lined surface, over frieze drawer, raised on square tapering legs.

This desk is a delight. The satinwood is luminous and the construction is of fine quality.

Similar to a bonheur du jour, but with a removable superstructure, a cheveret was a sought after and refined piece of furniture for a lady of style and means in the late 18th c.
