Antique (19th century) commode in the Louis XVI style exhibiting the finest craftsmanship, after the original model by Jean Henri Riesener, including parquetry inlaid fruitwood veneer and ormolu bronze mounts of exceptional quality. Made in Paris by Brunovan with the maker's stamp in two locations on the top of the carcass. With three frieze drawers and surmounted by a massive rough marble top.
The firm was renowned for their outstanding reproductions of Louis XV and Louis XVI designs, designed and produced by the finest cabinet makers in Paris and retailed at their galleries on Madison Avenue in New York, and Tower Court in Chicago. less
