It was fashioned by Frederick Goldscheider (1845-1897) and depicts a young girl with long hair surrounded by poppy flowers, also known as "Fleur de Pavot." The maker's mark can be found on the front bottom of the sculpture. Frederick Goldscheider was renowned during the Art Nouveau period, and his works were highly influential. The bust weighs 23.8 lbs and is a stunning example of the Art Nouveau Style.

Origins and history:
Friedrich Goldscheider was a prominent ceramics manufacturer born November 6, 1845, in Plzen, Czech Republic. He is best known for founding the Goldscheider Manufactory and Majolica Factory in Vienna in 1885. This factory is famous worldwide for producing terracotta, faience, bronze, and alabaster ceramics and objects. Goldscheider's most famous works are small, posed ceramic figures influenced by artistic movements like Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Orientalism. These figures featured flowing lines and naturalistic decorative motifs. In 1889, he won the Bronze Medal for terra cotta pieces at the International Exhibition held in Paris. Goldscheider passed away on January 19, 1897, in Nice, France. See less
