Made during the Qing dynasty, approx. mid 1800's, it was exported to Hawaii, then made it's way to a Boston estate, where it has been kept in a glass cabinet for the last hundred years.
The only visible flaws on this platter are typical of porcelain from the 1800's, such as fleabite glaze imperfections, a bit of paint wear around the rim and some small splits in the clay on the reverse. Overall, this is one of the finest rose medallion platters I've seen, with sharp colors and a nice shallow bowl-shaped form. less
