Offering an exceptionally gorgeous signed NOVERDY lighting bowl featuring nine panels of grapes and leaves (quite a harvest!). French reverence for Nature’s beauty and bounty (and grapes in particular) comes shining through in this manifestation. Headed by its creator and chief designer, Jean Noverdy, the Noverdy works manufactured all manner of high-quality lighting during the “magical years” from 1920 to 1940, and it’s easy to see why with one look at this bowl. The hardware is custom-crafted, cast bronze (the canopy) and solid brass fittings with a new brushed nickel finish, antiqued. There’s one standard-based American socket inside the bowl, positioned so the filament will be centered and the light as evenly distributed as possible. You’ll be able to use any size bulb you want. Perfect for your wine cave – or entryway, living or dining room.
The glass is colorless, appearing white as a result of its being frosted (typically the result of applied acids). Various elements enhance the design by being polished out to clear; these add sparkle when the light is on. Any (warm color you see in these photos is strictly the result of the photography.
I’ve photographed it twice, once with a 25 watt incandescent bulb and again with a CFL bulb. If you use a CFL bulb the bowl will appear bathed in white light, but you won’t get the kind of sparkle in the clear areas that you do with a (higher wattage) incandescent bulb. In either case your room will be enhanced by this “thing of beauty,” jewelry for the home.
