The delicate silhouette is clearly derivative of the grand Louis XV bureau Plats. Here the canted legs undulate in the sinuous cabriole profile on the leg’s outside, but the inside line is straight until an ever so slight flair terminates in an ivory sabot. The fluid cabriole profile is delineated and enhanced by a slim ivory moulding that softly scrolls at termination. The richly contrasted striations of the rare Ebony Woods provide the predominant surface interest discretely punctuated by the ivory. A highly refined fusion of the 18th and 20th Centuries entirely elegant for living room library or bedroom. less
