Vintage African hand carved from a single piece of wood Ashanti / Akan stool. The stool was created by Ashanti people who together with Fante and Baule belong to the Akan people living in Ghana and Ivory Coast (Cote D'Ivoire). These kind of stools was created for individuals who had reached puberty. They were used at home or in schools, and later might be placed in ancestral shrines. Some were carried in processions as emblems of a royal lineage.
The stool features several decorative carvings in geometrical forms. It sits very comfortable and it would be a great asset for an African art collector or simply anyone who appreciates the African art. less
