Description: This beautiful large Impressionist oil painting dates from the earlier part of the 20th century and appears to be unsigned. … more This beautiful large Impressionist oil painting dates from the earlier part of the 20th century and appears to be unsigned. It was acquired in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. The scene may be an early 20th century view of Williamstown, MA as seen from Stone Hill (behind the Clark Art Institute). It is mounted in a nice, decorative solid wood frame that has simple, but elegant relief patterns and is in a very neutral, subtle grey/griege/beige color. The image is rendered with a great deal of skill and expert use of color.

Condition: The painting does have a significant amount of below surface crazing/cracquelure, however it does not have any areas of paint loss or chipping. Frame does have signs of wear and age along with some small chipped or stained areas and may need to be refinished. less
