Small square rugs like these are sometimes referred to as a " wedding" rugs. Very luxurious pile with a velvety feel , the third photo shows how soft and drape like this piece is.

It is in excellent condition, having spent most of it's life hanging on the wall as you see in the first photo. The true colors are represented by the following photos taken outdoors in natural light.

The material is a soft velvety wool, all natural vegetable dyes. All the corners are intact, the selvage edge top and bottom is intact and has a nice detail of alternating red and blue geometric shapes, both ends have white wool fringe, not cotton as you find in lesser quality pieces. Both sides on the vertical axis are finished in hand edged navy wool .Very finely woven and hand knotted , see the close up photo with tape measure of KPSI - knots per square inch.

There are 15 central gul medallions, in a center field of a soft brick red, with smaller medallions creating the border on 4 sides framing the central gul medallions. The top and base have a diagonal stylized geometric alternating navy and cream design design. It is a very luxurious rug with a warm and elegant feel visually , and velvety to the touch . less
