The brown leather wraps loosely around the first brass post, then it spans to the second one and does the same. It all sits on a 1/8" thick piece of antiqued brass. Almost all antiqued brass pieces are brass-plated. It is 14.5" to the top of the bulb socket and it can use up to a 60-Watt bulb. It comes with its lampshade. The lamp is in working order. less
