Description: An early example of Chippendale tall case clock featuring a silver chapter ring with black Roman numerals and cast gilt metal mounted brass dial with subsidiary date chapter, a silver upper center circle is signed by David Paterson Sutherland active 1763 to 1778. The Mahogany case features a squared tombstone style hood fluted hood with columns, the lower case has a shaped pendulum door resting on rounded bun style feet. Clock includes weights, pendulum, key and winder.

David Paterson was a English clockmaker working in Sutherland, England, from 1763 until 1778. Early American clocks featured his works, a few examples of American clocks with his works have sold for $20,000 to $30,000.
