The angelo mangiarotti s11 round dining table, produced around the year 1970, is an exquisite piece of design that exemplifies timeless form and an exceptional ability to adapt the product to its use. With its unique character and meticulous attention to detail, this table is a demonstration of the innovative vision and artistic sensibility that mangiarotti represents.
the basic feature of the s11 table is its enormous versatility. The round shape of the table that transforms into an elongated oval table in just a few moves. In fact, there are two doors hidden under the table which, if necessary, are opened and transform the table to accommodate more people. The mechanism that allows the double solution is ingeniously and sophisticated. The top of the s11 table is skilfully lacquered in black like the rest of its particular leg. Indeed aesthetically the base of the table is very very beautiful. Composed of twelve staves that taper towards the bottom, it has an architectural linearity that fully echoes the style of the artist mangiarotti. These slats are connected below to a round base which forms the foot of the table and above directly to the table top. This type of central foot gives the table a unique lightness and linearity, as the leg is empty in the center, allowing the light to filter and create a beautiful play of light and shadow.
worth mentioning is mangiarotti's ability to enhance the sensual aspect of objects through the right choice of materials, supported by an intuitive and highly expressive formal sensibility that places his design works, in equal measure, within the sphere of rationality and in that of subjectivity. The search for him stems as much from the interest in industrial processes as from the attraction for artistic expression.
angelo mangiarotti differs from the other figures of the first generation of italian design in his ability to adapt the product to be designed to its function, its use, the characteristics and conditions required of the materials used. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
