A charming antique French Louis XVI style painted bidet stool (today it would make for a wonderful chair side table, plant stand or stool)
Born in Provincial France in the 19th century, having a hinged rectangular cane woven seat, opening to cutout that once housed a porcelain chamber pot, rising on turned H-form stretcher-joined legs.
*Please note, at the time of writing this, we have a similarly styled pair of Louis XVI style painted chairs available (shown in the last photo)
Dimensions: (approx)
17" High, 19.25" Wide, 13" Deep
Similar to a close stool (necessary stool - thunderbox), potty chair, bedside night commode or chaise percée, this old fashioned bidet is a wonderful reminder of how the times have changed with modern day hygiene. A fabulous curiosity, in addition to perspective, this bidet is a wonderful way to add whimsical elegance, Provincial warmth and historical depth to any space!
