- There is some " aubrush " the term for bands of slight fading of the natural vegetable dyes, this is … moreThere is some " aubrush " the term for bands of slight fading of the natural vegetable dyes, this is considered an asset to some collectors as it shows the character of true aging. These area are not wear, the depth and density of the pile in these areas is the same throughout the rug- please see close up photos. There are also some areas of wear on the edges as would be natural in a 19th C. rug, particularly on the vertical axis where there is a very tight hand stitched red thread salvage- see close up photos. There are some tears on the edges about 1" into border- see photo. The lower horizontal axis where the cream loom edge fringe is has some loose areas- see photo. Over all it is in good condition for a 19th century antique and has a nice dense wool feel. less
