Schooled in the segregated … more Jimmy Lee Sudduth (1910-2007)…One of the “elder” statesman and master of Black Folk Art in America. Schooled in the segregated south even a one room school house. Didn’t learn to read or write but made the best of the situation painting with mud on stumps in the woods as a child. His native mother encouraged and the work began. His paintings are in major privately held collections of folk art, outsider art and self taught art.
