Description: This antique puzzle box was made as a souvenir in the Sorrento area of Italy in the late 1890-1910. It … more This antique puzzle box was made as a souvenir in the Sorrento area of Italy in the late 1890-1910. It is inlaid with book spines on the front. A delicate mosaic band of inlaid wood decorated the lid, along with three swallows flying. A small piece of the mosaic band has some damage. It has a secret compartment in the right side of the box. Originally one of the book spines on the front of the box slide open to reveal a key hole to lock the box. That feature is no longer working, I believe the book spine has been glued into place. Without being perfect, this little wood box has withstood the test of time and it still very nice indeed. less
