Bright books of red and blue with black and gold details made this special edition of the book series look sharp. This special hardbound red & blue set was printed by arrangement with the Bobbs-Merrill Company.

The inside cover or end pieces of books have color images of the series' subjects; but the stories have unique original black silhouette drawings from the original "Childhood of Famous Americans" books.

The copyright dates are listed below, going from 1932 to 1952 in a zigzag order of dates. Ten stories of boys and ten stories of girls include:
