A massive antique stoneware storage jar. The heavily potted jar is of a typical "medieval" form with swelled shoulder, short neck and tapered body, made for vernacular use in the kitchen.
The surface is covered with a drip glaze, black markings and splatter runoffs resulted from the iron slip interaction with ash in the kiln fires. It also features a stamp along with surface scuff markings due to use and storage. less
