The painting is comprised of two trapezoidal shaped canvases affixed at the center.

Originally from Cincinnati, Levine spent most of his career working in NYC. His abstract and figural paintings and drawings received considerable recognition. He's exhibited his works, and is in the permanent collections of, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the National Gallery in Washington, among others.

The painting being offered bears strong similarity to a group of drawings in the MoMA collection created during the same period of 1987/1988.
