This Really is a Very Nice Looking Original Antique American Primitive Stoneware Storage Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. This type of Jug was Typically Used to Store Apple Cider - Hard Cider - Liquor - Spirits - Spring Water Etc. It is Not Marked but Based on its Size it Has an Approx. 1 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Very Nicely Hand Decorated with a Blue Stylized Flower Design on a Salt Glazed Exterior. It has No Maker Marks. It is most likely from the Pennsylvania - New York or Northern New England Region. It is in Very Good All Original Condition and Displays Nicely. It is Strong and Sound - Perfectly Usable - No Cracks. It has Some Surface Color and Glaze Variations - Spots Etc. but These Would Have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process and as a Result of Age and Use Over the years. 1 Imperfection Noted - It has a Very Old Chip on the Back Side at the Lower Base Rim - Perimeter that Also Possibly Occurred in the Making - See Last Photograph. Stoneware Pieces Such as these were Fired in Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at The Same Time .Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most Of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use.
