Described by the New Yorker magazine as "one of the most accomplished, as well as one of the most significant artists of our generation", William Gropper was a painter, caricaturist, illustrator and lithographer. Born to Jewish immigrants laboring in New York City's garment district sweatshops, Gropper was a committed radical, political activist, whose works typically depicted his social realism. His art is widely displayed, and exhibited at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
