Beautiful designed horse heads bookends in glossy black glaze which were produced from 1938 through 1950. Stamped on bottom in ink with the ABINGDON USA in a rectangle on the fired white clay.

The Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1908 in the small town of Abingdon, Illinois. During the depression, not much constrution going on, Abingdon cut down production of plumbingware and started its artware division. The named was changed to Abingdon Potteries in 1945. Artware production started in 1934 and was discontinued 1950, when new home construction boomed due to the returning GIs and need for new toilets and sinks were in high demand.
Measurements: 3 3/8 inches wide x 6 inches deep x 6 1/2 inches high
Condition: Very Good Condition. Minor wear consistent with age and use. No issues. See less
