Pine Wood Charlotte Perriand Stool for Les Arcs, France, 1960s This pine wood stool was designed by Charlotte Perriand for the Les Arcs ski resort in France around 1960. It is a simple and iconic design, with clean lines typical of Perriand's work. These particular stools have a beautiful patina that adds to their charm. Charlotte Perriand was a French designer born in 1903. She studied at the École de l'Union centrale des Arts décoratifs in Paris from 1920 to 1925. She designed furniture made from anodized aluminum and chromium-plated steel, which she presented at the 1927 "Salon d'Automne" in Paris. Perriand later worked with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret until 1937, designing revolutionary tubular steel furnishings and system furniture. In 1930, she showed her work solo at the Union Des Artistes Modernes (UAM) in Paris, a countermovement challenging establishment organizations. In 1937, Perriand and Jeanneret designed a mountain chalet made of sheet aluminum, which they showed at the "Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne." Perriand later became a design consultant to the Japanese Board of Trade in 1940, living in Japan until 1946. Her designs after this time reflect Japanese influences, as seen in the 1953 chair "Synthe'se des Arts." We have 6 available. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
