This is an exceptionally rare and collectible Nymphenburg hedgehog figurine, designed by renowned sculptor Louise Terletzki-Scherf (1902-1966). Crafted in mid-century Germany, this piece features a rich plum glaze with delicate gilded spines, showcasing the attention to detail that Nymphenburg is famous for. The hedgehog stands at 3-1/4" long, 2-1/2" wide, and 2-1/2" high.
Marked with the Nymphenburg Coat of Arms, impressed shield, number 2068, and painted code EX 405, this piece exemplifies the superior craftsmanship of Nymphenburg porcelain, which has been produced entirely by hand in Munich, Germany since 1747.
There is a note regarding the hedgehog’s right foot: the toes appear malformed. This could have occurred during production, or they may have been chipped and later touched up. Please examine the photos closely for more details.
This charming and rare piece is perfect for collectors of fine porcelain or unique mid-century decorative art.
