This is an extraordinary Vintage Original Oil Painting by listed Italian artist, Silvio Loffredo (1920-2013). Loffredo's works are exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome and in museums around the globe. This piece has fantastic color saturation and is a great example of Loffredo's work. It is hand-signed in the lower right and on the reverse it reads that it was a wedding gift to fellow artist, Patricia Tool, and her husband, Vincent McHugh. From the collection of Patricia Tool. Absolutely gorgeous. A ready-to-hang gem!

About the Artist: Silvio Loffredo was born in Montparnasse in 1920 by Italian parents. His father was painter and was he who introduced young Silvio to art. At the end of the war, Loffredo graduated from the art institute of Siena. In Italy, where he would reside until his death, he meets Ottone Rosai and studies with Primo Conti, Ugo Capocchini and Celestino Celestini.
Throughout his career, Loffredo participates in several exhibitions, including a solo exhibition at the XXXII Venice International Art Exhibition as well as numerous editions of the Rome Quadriennale. In the early sixties, Loffredos work gained international recognition, however, Florence remained the centre of his activity, it is in this period that Loffredo becomes attracted to the bold brushstrokes and expressionistic colours of Oskar Kokoshka. On 12 June 2003, Loffredo received the silver medal for a career dedicated to art from the President of the Tuscan Regional Council.
He died at Trebiano in July 2013. His works are exhibited at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome and in museums around the globe. Two self-portraits are on display at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. less
