Stunning Japanese Ukiyo-e Byobu Screen depicting 4 Geishas dancing in the Night Rain. Title inscription: Autumn Moon. Signed with seal stamp illegible very faint red circle under signature.
This is a gorgeous four-panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting four beautiful ladies who appear to be dancing in the rain on a walkway seeking shelter with a pretty autumn landscape of pine trees, grass, and hills in the background.
The screen was created after and appears to be in the style of Utamaro Kitagawa artwork. The beautiful four-panel folding screen and colorway of hand-painted details in rich natural color pigments and ink over subtle gold leaf ground squares make this piece of artwork easy to place in any room in the house. The screen has a wonderful peach silk brocade border and is set in black lacquered wood frames with engraved metal corners, sides, and plaques at each corner. It's stunning to view in person. From an estate in La Jolla CA.
