Description: Antique Neapolitan Empire frame in gilt and carved wood belonging to the first decade of the 19th century. The four … more Antique Neapolitan Empire frame in gilt and carved wood belonging to the first decade of the 19th century. The four corners are enhanced by four large leaves denoting age and provenance. The whole structure is embellished with three orders of carving alternating palmettes and rhombuses typical of the Empire period to which it belongs. The gilding is 24kt leaf gold on a layer of Armenian bolus. Provenance: early 19th-century Naples. Exterior measurements: 84x97cm. Interior measurements: 65x78cm.
