A substantial oil painting with collaged elements by this listed California artist.
Millicent Tomkins began painting at a young age and, as a child, was awarded a total of six scholarships to the San Francisco Museum of Art. She subsequently attended the University of California at Berkeley where she received her Masters of Art Degree. Over a long career, both as artist and musician, she exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards. These included First Prize for Fine Art at the Marin County Annual Fair in California and an Honorable Mention at the Palm Desert Museum's National Juried Exhibition. She also received the Individual Artist Grant in Painting from Marin County, Ca, the Gold Discovery Award for Traditional Painting presented by Art of California Magazine and the annual Life Time Achievement in the Arts Award from Mill Valley, Ca. For many years, Millicent Tomkins painted and sketched at her working studio in Moab, Utah, while maintaining her exhibition studio in Mill Valley, California. less
