The technique is truly remarkable, while the detail has taken many hours to complete. The top bird is the is a representation of the time honored peacock. The curlicues and other fine parts of the sculpture is relegated to other birds that only a skilled bird lover could identify. One must feel the smooth texture of the artist skill in choosing the beautiful single piece of teakwood that has been used in this fine artistry of the sculptures blade which has been polished and sanded into a fine portraiture of the bird species. One could easily mount this piece on a stand as a hole has already been provided on the bottom of the sculpture. I found this piece in a vintage store window in the North Beach section of San Francisco. See less
